Daddy brought home a runny nose from work and shared it with the little lion king. Bad Daddy. Unfortunately we had to miss the Halloween party w/ some of my neighborhood mom friends and their husbands and kiddos.
However, we ended up having a fun evening despite the constant nose-wiping. Jennifer and Bob came over and Elyas greeted the trick or treaters in his little lion costume. It was simple and fun which I tend to appreciate these days
.
Some after bath fun in his Halloween jammies.
Last weekend Laura and Ella visited and we went to the Ghouls at Grassmere event. Our little lion and Cinderella both had fun trick or treating at the zoo.

And here are a few pictures of my first weekend trip away from my sidekick. Jason and Elyas had a fun weekend at home while I went on a girl's trip to my in-laws who live in the Cherokee forest about 45 minutes outside of Asheville, NC. Most people wouldn't take their first trip away from their baby to their in-laws, but most people's in-laws aren't Steve and Star. We had such a fun, relaxing weekend. Steve led us on a day hike on the Appalachian Trail and Star cooked us some wonderful food (the gumbo was especially a hit--I'm making it later today--Kelly and Jennifer have already made it since returning--thanks for the recipe Star!)

It was gorgeous there. We definitely experienced winter weather. We had initially planned to do an overnight hike on the AT but changed our minds since it was raining and quite cold (and even snowing at higher elevations).

The leaves were gorgeous.

And the fog created such a nice feeling while we hiked. I love this picture of Steve.

And then we reached the snow. The air was crisp and refreshing.
We went to Hot Springs, NC for a fun evening at the Hot Springs resort where we soaked in the Jacuzzi tubs filled w/ natural hot mineral water. Afterwards we went to listen to some live music at the local pub.

Thanks to my wonderful friends for making my first trip away so special. Love you guys ;)

I can't wait to go back for Thanksgiving. See you soon Steve and Star!

All great pictures!! My favorite one is the very first one though, a little toothy lion grin :)
That little man is entirely too cute! I swear he looks more like his daddy with every set of pictures.
I am totally bummed that we were not together for Halloween. Just seems wrong. Thanks for the card, it made my day and made me a little sad at the same time.
We miss you guys terribly. COME VISIT!!
