We have been enjoying some relaxing moments w/ our wood-burning fireplace (yes the real deal). The kind that crackles. So nice. Makes you want to drink hot chocolate and snuggle.
Some cold days I just let go (as you can see from the picture below). I cook and enjoy having my little sidekick helping me out. Some days I seriously question my sanity. Who trips over the same sauce pan four times and doesn't question their sanity? It's exhausting.
And our little stinker is enjoying some indoor time (although we do make it outside EVERY day even when it's 20 degrees--I've realized he is an outdoor person and must get some fresh air daily even if I freeze my butt off--hey isn't that what parenting is about? Making sacrifices for our little love bugs?) (p.s. these pics were taken by Jennifer & Bob--they capture him in his true element--so adorable)

And last a truly funny story. As Elyas turned 17 months on Friday, I started thinking about the deadline I had put in my head that if he wasn't walking by 18 months I was going to be worried. We went out to Rotiers for cheeseburgers (on french bread of course) and fries (yum yum) and on the way home Jason and I started talking about it. I'm a firm believer that kids understand what we as parents are talking about even when they can't communicate very well. So we get home and start bathtime and I start talking to Jason about whether Elyas could be feeling too much pressure from us to learn how to walk and maybe that's why he's not walking yet. Jason on the other hand decided that we haven't been firm enough and we need to set the record straight. He then proceeded to tell Elyas that it was "time to step up," it was "time to start walking", and he was "too old to be crawling around." I joined in and we basically had our very first "talk" w/ our little precious baby boy who has now somehow turned into a toddler. What was the result? Well let's just say Elyas looked at us and laughed. He laughed, and laughed, and laughed some more as we went on and on about how old he is and how he must learn how to walk.
The next day he decided that maybe we crazy parents know what we are talking about. Yes, let me repeat the next day....maybe we are gonna be ok as parents after all.
